Rasmus Stride is a multimedia and crypto artist born in Denmark, living in Oslo.
Within the hyper-realistic 3D tableau we find mundane assets of a living room. A chair, couch, and table is seemingly floating in a room, partly submerged in water. The gigantic head of Michelangelo’s masterpiece “David” is watching over the scene with his iconic stare.
The piece is a personal work based on the thought of Covid-19 and my associations with blockchain technology. The sculpture of David, originally a symbol of Florence's defiance of the Medici hegemony, represents my inner fight with fear and loss of control caused by Covid-19. Like Michelangelo’s belief in Science, I find myself looking towards bigger forces of medical innovation.
Finally, the piece represents my positive belief in the power of decentralization to disrupt established systems of greed and corruption.
