MARIA MAANESKIOLD x RASMUS STRIDE - The Youwhoo dynasty vase
MARIA MAANESKIOLD x RASMUS STRIDE - The Youwhoo dynasty vase
Maria Maaneskiold is a visual multimedia artist based in Oslo. With a playful color palette and a touch of eeriness, she explores identity, narcissism and trauma to question how the things we experience changes and shapes us. Her visual expression has been described as a mix of Cartoon network and David Lynch.
"Conversations" part 1 is a section from the piece with the same title commissioned by Costume awards 2020, held at The Old Deichman Library in Oslo.
Rasmus Stride is a multimedia and crypto artist born in Denmark, living in Oslo.
The title “Bringing into view” hints at opening your eyes after a night of sleep, and the brief moment before recognizing your home.
I wanted the piece to demand something from the spectator. Make people ask: Where is this? What time? Who is missing? Do the spherical elements float on their own accord? Are the skies gray or clearing? The quality of the space seems to suggest that we are in a world close to ours but at the same time a place with its own rules and realities.
The shadows on the walls seem to hint at a hidden barrier - and we can only speculate what lies behind the drapes next to the archway.
