Tim Lahan (1984) is an American artist and illustrator based between Philadelphia, New York, and Oakland, known for a visual language that merges graphic clarity with playful subversion. Working across painting, drawing and diverse commercial collaborations, his practice distills everyday forms into simplified, humorous and often disarmingly strange compositions. Through this reduction, Lahan explores how familiarity can be destabilised—creating images that sit between the immediately recognisable and the quietly surreal.

Influenced by isolation, observation and an ongoing interest in visual minimalism, his work challenges the boundaries of what can be considered “wrong” or “simple” in image-making. With clients ranging from Apple and Nike to The New Yorker and Hermès, Lahan maintains a distinctly personal voice that foregrounds wit, honesty and human oddity.
