Collection: ALBERTO PELAYO

Alberto Pelayo (1991) is a Mexican creative and image maker whose practice moves between photography, performance and conceptual construction. With an early foundation in painting and a background in industrial design, his visual language merges theatrical narrative with controlled aesthetics, balancing what he calls “the substance” — the story — with “the container” — the image itself. Pelayo’s characters often inhabit a space of heightened emotion, where drama, irony and fragility coexist in carefully staged compositions.
Drawing inspiration from human tragedy, ordinary anecdotes and the absurdity of everyday life, he transforms pain into dark humour, creating scenes that feel both surreal and disarmingly honest. His work embraces symmetry, unconventional perspectives and a stylised sense of chaos, revealing the tension between internal instability and the silent environments that hold it. Ultimately, Pelayo’s images invite viewers to travel — into constructed worlds where tragedy becomes comedy and imagination becomes its own reality.
